journalRAGE, Liberia’s sole digital online platform whose focus is the LGBTQ+ community, invites journalists in Liberia to apply for a Human Rights Reporting Fellowship on covering sensitive topics in human rights under the Liberia Media Empowerment Project that is being funded by the European Union via Internews.
This training aims to build a cadre of journalists in Liberia who will report without any bias, discrimination, and homophobia on sexual and other minorities. The training is further meant to create media advocacies, campaigns and stories that advance the promotion of human rights.
To be eligible for consideration, prospective applicants must be working for a recognized media institution and MUST have not less than five years under their belt as a reporter.
Local expert trainer(s) and guest speaker(s) will lead trainings about numerous media advocacies and storytelling techniques. The program includes training sessions on diversity, messaging, framing, safety, evaluation, and more.
This workshop is designed to be interactive and participant-driven. At the end of the training, each selected fellow will be tasked to produce a story. Stipends for a successfully completed and published story will be paid by journalRAGE. Participants may produce more than one story based on the availability of funding.
Selected fellows will receive progressive mentorship and editorial support during the course of the Fellowship.
